Roots in fire-safety direct sales going back to the 1980s, built around one mission
TruWatch grew out of decades of direct-selling fire-safety experience, an education-led, in-home model built by people who spent their careers teaching families about the fire risks their homes actually have, then earning the sale.
Is TruWatch the same company as DeTech?
TruWatch is the current brand for the fire-safety business; DeTech was its smoke-alarm product line and educational arm, discontinued in 2022. Both trace back to the same team and TruWatch International, LLC — TruWatch’s current products carry that history but not the DeTech name.
Leadership
Michael J. Hafeman
President & CEO
Mike grew up around the direct-selling industry and spent years leading a national direct-marketing home-fire-safety company before helping build TruWatch — modernizing its marketing along the way.
William E. Driscoll
VP of Sales & Dealer Development
Bill started as a commissioned fire-safety sales agent in the 1980s, built a leading national dealership over decades in the field, and — together with his wife and partner June — developed much of the recruiting and dealer-training system TruWatch runs on today.
Our mission
Every evaluation starts with education, not a pitch — showing a family the specific fire and CO risks NFPA 72 flags in their own home. The number below is what that mission has added up to.
Documented lives saved
447 documented lives saved — TruWatch’s internally documented count.
The DeTech history
DeTech was TruWatch’s smoke-alarm product line and educational arm for many years. The DeTech smoke alarm line was discontinued in 2022. Today’s smoke alarms, heat detectors, and other product lines are sold under the TruWatch brand only.
